Hi friends,

Today we had Ghavan ( neer dosa) with mutton stew! This is traditional dish from Konkan and Kerala! It’s like a pancake. Very light and soothing!! It’s made with rice. In Konkan this is mostly had with sweet coconut milk for the breakfast! We like to eat with stew, chutney or chicken or mutton curry! So let’s do it!

Ingredients:
500 grams plain rice.

1 cup coconut milk/ fresh coconut

1 tsp Salt

Water needed

There are two methods of making rice flour batter for this recipe.

  1. Wash raw rice, dry in the shade and make slightly grainy powder than atta. Store it in air tight container.

  1. Wash the rice thoroughly and soak overnight. Make fine paste. Add coconut milk and salt. If you are using fresh coconut then grind it with the rice. You can make it without coconut also. Make thin batter. Use immediately. No need to ferment it.

With rice flour- Mix 1 cup rice flour with 3 cups water, salt to taste. Make thin mixture. add coconut milk. If you don’t have coconut milk then you can grind 1 tbspn fresh coconut with the rice flour and mix with the rice mixture. You can also make without coconut.

Heat non stick pan, when hot, brush with oil.

Pour 1/ 2 cup batter thinly on tawa, cover for 2 minutes. Slowly the batter will leave the edges of the pan. When the surface of dosa appears to be dry, slowly pick from the sides and keep on banana leaf or a kitchen towel. Grease the pan before putting next dosa. Eat with chutney or ghatlay. We prefer it with chicken curry
